Gameview’s Tap Fish Comes to Android, Soars to #1 Free Casual Game

Leading iOS aquarium game now available in the Android Market

Mountain View, CA – April 19, 2011 – Gameview Studios Inc. (www.gameviewstudios.com), a leading publisher of mobile social games and a division of DeNA, announced today that Tap Fish, the largest aquarium game on iOS with more than 10 million downloads, is now available in the Android Market as well. Launched on April 1, the application has already received over 500,000 installs, rave user reviews and a 4.5 out of 5 star rating by over 10,000 fans. It is currently soaring up the charts, reaching the #1 position for free casual games and near the top of the charts for all free games.

The success of Tap Fish on Android is reflected in statistics such as:

·       On average, users log in more than 3 times a day to check on their aquariums
·       The 7-day retention rate is greater than 85%
·       Since the launch, users have visited over 1 million of their neighbor’s tanks

“The Android platform holds tremendous opportunity for social mobile games,” said John Hwang, Vice President of Social Games at Gameview Studios. “Consumers have clearly embraced it, and there are several key distribution and monetization opportunities that make it very appealing to us as developers. But the biggest reason we ported Tap Fish over to Android was the sheer volume of requests we got from consumers who had seen the game on their friends’ iPhones or heard about it online and simply had to have it for their Android devices.”

Just like in the original iOS version, Tap Fish for Android gives players virtual aquariums in which to raise various types of fish and other marine life by feeding them, cleaning their tanks, and giving them “love.” Once grown, the fish can be sold or bred with other fish to create new species. The game features hundreds of different types of fish and exotic marine life including killer whales, sharks and sting rays, plus 80 distinct tanks, dozens of backgrounds, and a large variety of decorations.

Porting Tap Fish over to Android was an easy decision for Gameview Studios, considering the platform’s extraordinary growth rate. A study released earlier this month by Gartner said Android is in line to become the world’s most popular operating system by the end of the year and capture nearly half of the entire smartphone OS market in 2012.

With in-app purchases now available on Android, and with application storefronts such as the Android Market and others making Android apps easier to find, Gameview Studios plans on releasing many other titles on the Android platform over the coming months.

Tap Fish is now available on all Android devices using version 2.0 or later. The game can be downloaded through the Android Market or online at https://market.android.com/details?id=com.bayview.tapfish.

  1. i'm a fan of this game, but i wish some things were different.. for example players could have the possibility to do more worthy things if they had more bucks and not spend 14 fbs on a terradaktyl flying dinosaurs and whatever unless the reason is to spend some real money buying fbs on the internet.. also there are so many other species we would like to see..(discus,bettas,
    guramis,catfish,cardinals,mollys,tetra widows,
dollars even pacu) theres so many. one other thing is i believe that breeding time between species should be proportionate to the cost, not 3 days for any fish.. another thing is that it would be nice to allow selling fishes and inventory between users.. this game needs only to give us things to do..not waiting a year to get some fishbucks. my opinion is that some changes through updates could give this game a boost to the top.

  3. Frankly, I'd rather see tap fish available with a paid app. People are NOT getting free fish bucks. Check Facebook page tapfish for android. I have already cancelled my Paypal account for Tap Fish. Interesting that cash always works, "free" Fish Bucks do not. Games are supposed to be fun; if not then I uninstall.

  4. What is the deal with the breeding tanks and bred fish? I play twice a day at least, sometimes 3-4 times a day. Always feed them, clean tanks etc. noticed a few days ago one of my fish disappeared. On someone elses, when they go to my tank, it shows up as a dead fish. Yet on mine it is just gone. Then yesterday it was dead in my tank. Then I have to use a fish buck to revive an expensive fish...today I have 5 missing. They are all fish that I have bred. In the breeding tanks (I have 2 breeding tanks) there isn't even names by them now. You guys need to fix this!! I dont even get half the fish bucks for downloading apps. What is the deal??? Kinda taking all the fun out of it.

  5. Ok to make a long story short the free bucks apps don't work and wtf is with the crazy outrageous price of pay for bucks. In short me and my friends are going to uninstall cause without spending a fortune on this FREE game we have done all we can do with this game. I am level 23 with 500000 coins and nowhere left to go after a fun week of play

  6. "Porting Tap Fish over to Android was an easy decision"...Because Gameview ported a watered-down INFERIOR version with NO FREE FISH BUCKS....and more importantly NO SERVICE. I look forward with the hope of seeing Gamview file Chapter 11 some day. There was never any intention of making Tap Fish available for Android....THANKS for nothing.

  7. I cannot for the whole day yesterday and today. I have 3G connection so I know it is not a problem at my end. It's your server that is having an issue. Hope you fix it soon before I lose interest in the game.

  9. I play the free app Fish Tycoon on my pc and after playing Tap Fish for ONLY ONE bred fish a I see this site is straight out SCAMMING people.

We are loving this app, but CONTINUOUSLY handing over cash for digital nothings is , well, just stupid. And not fullfilling your advertised promises IS scamming. And not responding to your customers is inviting further legalities to the legitimacy of the dovelopers.

STOP PAYING FOR THE BUCKS AND PUT UP WITH THE ADVERTISING? I choose advertisment any day, everyday.

  10. I purchased 115 fish bucks for 9.99 and never even received them. But yet my paypal account has been charged twice!! I've sent 5 emails and no one responds to me. Can anyone say fraud!

  11. Wow:I was just going to leave a comment that I really liked this app, but after hearing all about the scams and un-returned emails regarding the scams, I guess I should not be too quick download/pay fir the other tap games by gameview. I will wait to spend anymore of my money/time until this company can get their reputation back in line. Thanks everyone for the warning!

  12. The in-app purchase has been down for over a week. It is very frustrating because it does not seem to be getting better. So the trophy games are not functioning nor are the collectibles. After finally breeding 63 fish for a trophy I got zip nada. The amount of ep points needed to level up is daunting at 1 to two the most you can get. frustrating to say the lease

  13. Ppl are makin sound worse than it is.fish Buck isn't "need" u can play the game perfectly without it

As for the glitches and missing fish You can always try restoring your data

Short in all those complain haven't try the game for more than a week and those who says You "need" fish bucks are just immature

  16. Very mature Sonny now run along little boy and complain about some other That's too hard for u

  17. "dat", your English sounds as bad as that agata's from the facebook fan page. Gameview should at least give a statement as to why tap fish for iphone and all the similar apps aren't in the app store. Why does it cost so much money to play the game? Yes, you actually have to spend money to get more from this game. You can play without spending a dime but it leaves with you with limited breeding tanks (and the stupid mystery labs) and a limited selection of fish, backgrounds and decorating items. The apple version is pretty buggy and it looks as though the android version gets priority. Why do other gameview apps reward leveling up early in the game with that games currency but you have to be a level 41 to get ONE free fishbuck from this game??? Mystery labs are a waste of game time and player's time. Gameview should have mini games for players to earn currency within the app. Another thing, get a customer representative on the facebook page has a better command of the English language. That page doesn't seem official or professional in any way because that person that answers the questions comes across as terse or too busy to answer player questions. It's also apparent that they don't have the knowledge to answer android based questions other than some superficial canned response. Fix the app in a timely manner (approvals from apple from time of submission do not take 3, 4 weeks etc) and quit blaming apple for the hold up. Also, you guys need to respond to customer emails and have someone else take over on that facebook page.

  18. You talk about how my English is bad but the fact is I'm not American so my English is good nough. Secondly you All about bad English yet yours is just a giant wall of text. Learn paragraph structure please.China want their wall back.

The DID give reason why their other appsn't on the market yet. BTW the way u DONT have to spend a dime to get everything they give u free offer try SAVIN. And no you don't need to be level 41 to earn fish Buck u can start earnings as soon as u start.

You talk about how slow they are how UN professional they are yet u don't want them to sell their fish bucks. HOW ELSE WILL THEY GET EMPLOYEES???? like I said any mature grown person can see that the whole fish Buck is so they can support themself and have The budget to improve there game

  21. I also love this game but getting anything other than a canned response from all email addresses I have sent my complaint to have been unresponsive to date.

Since I had saved the game to my installed sd card inside my phone and DID NOT REMOVE MY SD CARD AT ALL, I ASSUMED, incorrectly that TAP FISH would still be there when I turned it back on !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wrong!!! When I re-installed it a second time ...It had me start all over. But I love the game sooo much that I decided to start over and so I got over that money loss. BUt I just went thru the same dang thing again and this TIME I AM PISSED OFF. I NEED SOMEONE FROM THIS COMPANY TO PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS ACCUSATION . ALL OF MY SEVEN TANKS AND ALL MY HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF FISH COIN BRED FISH ARE ALL GONE sOMEONE PLEASE CONTACT ME

  22. " About DeNA DeNA Co., Ltd. is a world-leading online service company that operates Mobage social gaming platform, social networking services and e-commerce websites. To expand the Mobage platform globally, DeNA is building a presence in the US, Europe, China and South Korea. DeNA is listed on the Tokyo stock exchange".

And all that comes from users spending hard earned dollars on "fish bucks" - Just to play a supposedly FREE game..... what a scam!!! Thanks California for selling out to the Japanese.

  23. Tap Fish is fun and works great on my iPhone. Perhaps, the glitches are just temporary when migrated to Android. I agree that fish bucks are too expensive relative to the cost of the premium items in the game. However, I have no problem spending a few dollars supporting the developers for their hard work. My strategy is to buy the fish bucks and items when they are on-sale (sometimes 40% off).

  24. We just paid $13.99 for 241 fish bucks and today, the total was down to 91 and we never even used them. We emailed the company, but now we are afraid we'll be charged more than once and never hear from them.

  25. I had tap fish installed on my droid and tap fish was saved to my sd card phone messed jup had to reset thought game would be there since I saved it to my sd card but nope madde me start over I started over and now I need new phone new droid will be here Monday thank god but that meaNs losing every thing againwich really makes me mad gameview needs to set it up so that your game can be saved some how even if its through gmail or sd card or something hell this sucks startting oveer time and time again losing all your time and money other than that. I really like the game oh ya and they need to make more fish availible by coins and not fish bucks so you can do more free and people sayin grow up and quit crying over having to pay well let's see I paid 500 for the droid I'm playing it on and I also pay 30 a month for the data plan isn't the enough
